It is estimated that more than 80 million Americans suffer from some form of venous disorder.
At Vein and Aesthetics of Tucson, we offer Sclerotherapy and Vein Laser Treatment
to eliminate the appearance of Spider Veins. Spider vein treatments will provide a noticably cosmetic improvement and also provide relief from pain.
Spider veins are small, enlarged blood vessels that appear red or blue. These dilated vessels may be short, unconnected lines, each about the size of a large hair, or they may be connected in a matted 'sunburst' pattern. They can also resemble a spider web or a tree with branches.
The cause of spider veins is not completely known, but in many cases, there appears to be a genetic disposition. Additionally, reports have shown that pregnancy, hormonal changes, weight gain, leg injury, or prolonged standing may influence their occurrence.
Sclerotherapy is an in-office treatment used to eliminate superficial telangiectasias (spider veins) in the legs. Spider veins are enlarged blood vessels that appear red or blue. These small dilated vessels may manifest as short, unconnected lines, or they may be connected in a matted 'sunburst' pattern. They may also resemble a spider web or a tree with branches.
A solution called polidocanol is injected into the spider veins to irritate the vein wall, which coagulates the blood inside the vein. Your body will then naturally re-absorb the vein over time and the appearance of the spider veins will diminish.
Most people describe laser vein removal as mildly uncomfortable but not painful. However, we offer Pro-Nox Gas at an additional fee for patients who may need some anesthetic. Patients may experience temporary redness, swelling, and bruising. Some patients may experience pigmentary changes in skin color, but these will disappear and return to normal over time. We recommend walking daily; however, no strenuous activity for 3 - 5 days post-treatment. This includes running, hiking, cycling, and heavy lifting over 15 lbs.
A combination of sclerotherapy and vein laser may be used in conjunction, for the best results.
Sclerotherapy may require multiple sessions and can be performed on an outpatient basis. Usually, 1 to 3 treatments are necessary to effectively treat the spider veins. Additionally, a combination of sclerotherapy and vein laser may be used in conjunction for the best results.
We use Optimas Max Vasculaze 1064 Nd-YAG. Vein laser treatment has a unique ability to selectively target blood vessels without adversely affecting surrounding tissues. Laser light is specifically absorbed by the spider veins, gently heating the vessels causing the blood to clot. Then the body reabsorbs the treated blood vessels during the natural healing process
OptimasMAX is a multi-functional aesthetic platform that gives you the ability to provide the most in-demand consumer procedures, including fractional radiofrequency (FRF), intense pulsed light (IPL), hair removal, and vascular treatments. Offering combination treatments for unparalleled results.
Depending upon the severity of the veins, you may require between 1 and 3 laser treatments, spaced at 2-4 weeks apart.
